Lamp Thrifting and Resale

 

Would you buy a used lamp?  It's risky as some of them may not work anymore in which case you have to rewire the lamp if you are comfortable doing so.  The bulb holder (socket) may be loose.  The shade may need to be replaced.  Is the price of the lamp worth it and does it work and is it in good condition?  If it is, it may be worth buying rather than paying a huge price for a new lamp.

Some people are very good at rewiring and buy older lamps, rewire them, and resell.  If you do this, you should disclose that the lamp was rehabbed to potential buyers.
